This training is designed to prevent confusion about what Child Protective Services is and does, share information about Family Preservation & Engagement Services, and increase comfort and confidence of churches and volunteers as we step into complex situations. This is a mandatory training for those becoming Mentor Individuals and Mentor Families in the Don’t Go Alone program. It will be a one-session event lasting from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm happening over Zoom.

WHO IS THIS FOR?
This is for individuals interested in starting a ministry at their church, with a focus on developing Care Communities to support foster, adoptive, and biological families.
WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INCLUDE?
This includes the introductory course called FAM Basics (if you are registering for this course, you will be AUTOMATICALLY registered for FAM Basics), where you will learn the essentials of engaging your church in caring for vulnerable children and families. Then, you will proceed to the portion of the course that talks specifically about creating Care Communities.
The FAM Care Community Clinic is divided into 3 sections:
Independent work required prior to attending the live webinars: Care Community Essentials (1.5 hours)
Night 1 (September 9 @7 PM) - Live Webinar: FAM Basics (1.5 hours)
Night 2 (September 10 @ 7 PM) - Live Webinar: FAM Care Community Clinic (2 hours)
All three sessions must be completed to receive a certificate and Advocate access to the database which we use to manage Care Communities (called Promise Serves).

This online Zoom call is hosted by the Don’t Go Alone Director, Margaret Hoffer. She will give a general overview about the program, share testimonies from young adults who’ve been mentored through Don’t Go Alone, and give you an opportunity to ask your questions.
