FAM Spotlight: Providence Bible Church
The Scriptures explicitly call for the care of widows and orphans, and it seemed like a no-brainer to see how Providence Bible Church could partner with others and begin our own ministry, Fostering Hope.
When we contacted Project Belong, I had no idea what form our ministry would take or who would be a part of it. Further, I really had no idea how to proceed other than to make the need known. We know that when the Lord makes a path clear though, He will provide the details as needed – our job was simply to begin moving forward.
In April, we provided meals for two foster families as a way to ease their burden and to show the love of Christ. We have also created “First Night bags” to provide DSS for children entering foster care. Recently, we helped spruce up the play area at our local DSS for the families. We have also ministered to our local DSS by providing donuts and coffee and giving small gift bags to them.
The deeper we can develop those relationships, the more opportunity we will have to share the message of hope with them. When they see the love of Christ in action, prayerfully, they will be receptive to the message of Christ.
The first is the way the Lord provided leadership and direction for the Fostering Hope ministry. What a blessing to see Him work in the hearts of the right people to willingly offer themselves to His service.
The second has been the willingness of our congregation to support the ministry by willingly giving when we have presented a need.
Finally, I am always thrilled when the universal body of Christ works together. I am grateful to see the other local congregations come together to support those who are on the front lines of this important ministry – the families who selflessly foster and the agencies’ workers who are usually understaffed and overlooked.
